Culture Day - Oct. 12th

Oct. 12th has lots of different ways it is celebrated all over the Amercias.  Personally, my favorite is celebrating my sister's birthday!!!  In the States we call it Columbus day.  Here in Costa Rica it is called Culture Day.  Everyone takes a day to learn about other cultures.  Our school put on a big festival of cultures.  The children from the school had performances - quoting scripture, playing songs, and a flag dance.  Another part of the day was a parade of typical dress from around the world.  Each of our Spanish classes had a country and we made food from that country.  Both Jeff and I had Nicaragua.  Our classes made Arroz con pollo (chicken and rice).  It was a fun day learning about so many different Latin American cultures.

Jeff's teacher dressed in a a typical Nicaraguan dress.

Had a friend snap his picture so he wouldn't get upset seeing us.  Too bad he recognized our camera!

The Jr. High students did a flag dance.

Nathan with his class and the Kindergarten class.  They quoted Matthew 28:19- 20 in English and Spanish.

Nathan isn't too keen on performing on stage, so he just stood there.  But it was better then him running off the stage looking for us.
