Volcán Irazú and Orosi Valley

We had a week off of school for Semana Santa.  We decided to have a "staycation".  We rented a car for a few days and drove to places that are hard to get to in a bus.  It was nice having a little freedom!

One of those days we went to an active volcano in the area - Irazu Volcano.  It is about an hour away from our house.  This is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica.  You can drive up to the crater, so it was a pretty easy trip.  It was pretty cold being up that high and super windy.

I was the only one who got sunburned on my face - forgot my hat!
Juliana has the best seat in the house!

The main crater

Old ash from previous eruptions.  Looked like a desert.

After the volcano, we drove to a park that overlooked Orosi Valley.

We ate a picnic

Took a little rest

Threw some sticks

Time to head home

Someone was wiped out after our fun day!

We are so blessed to be able to study in such a beautiful country.  God is good!
